It’s no secret that we absolutely love Sweet Tea around these parts, in fact our love for Sweet Tea sent us on a quest to find the earliest Sweet Tea recipe in existence and give it a try. After some searching we were able to find “Housekeeping in Old Virginia,” a book orginally published in 1879 by Marion Cabell Tyree that contains a pretty amazing look at the times directly before the 1900’s. You’ll find some pretty interesting recipes, home remedies and most importantly on page 50.. The first ever Sweet Tea recipe!
To some this may just be an old book, but to us at Sweet Tea Junkie (and maybe you too) this is where it all began. An instant classic, and something that every Sweet Tea Junkie needs to have on their coffee table or bookshelf.
